New community police officer on campus

01/27/2012 00:00:00
A new police community support officer has joined Lancaster University’s dedicated police team based on campus.

PCSO Andy Garner replaces Andy Wright as the Police Community Support Officer, working with the community beat manager PC Gary Wynne.

Both will be providing a reassuring police presence for the students and staff on campus and will be able to listen and act on any concerns they have.

Andy Garner is also the PCSO for the villages near campus and knows the area well. He has been a PCSO for almost four years, first in Preston and then in Lancaster.

He said he was looking forward to walking around the university colleges and getting to know people.

“I am looking forward to chatting to students and staff as I walk around the campus. If they ask me any questions, I hope I can answer them or contact them later with an answer. I will work closely with the campus security staff to ensure students feel safe around the campus.”

Lancaster University’s Acting head of Security Mark Salisbury said: “I am delighted to have Andy’s services on campus and look forward to working with him. I am confident he will make a valuable contribution towards safety and security on campus for everyone.”
