Sustainable Uplands Management

02/06/2007 10:55:56

The sustainable future of the uplands will be debated at a workshop this month.

From Friday, February 23 to Sunday, February 25, the International Centre for the Uplands –Cumbria (ICU-C) and Field Studies Council will run a course on Sustainable Uplands Management.

The International Centre for the Uplands – Cumbria was launched in 2004. It combines funding from three agencies: Cumbria County Council, Rural Regeneration Cumbria - supported by the North West Development Agency - and the Lake District National Park Authority (through the Sustainable Development Fund) and is led by Lancaster University.

This short course will give participants the chance to explore the issue of sustainability by examining current rural policy debate and seeking to understand what sustainable uplands might look like at a local level.
