Lancaster receives European recognition for its plans to support researchers’ career development

09/20/2011 00:00:00
Lancaster has achieved the prestigious ‘HR Excellence in Research’, a badge of excellence awarded by the European Commission to institutions which meet the principles of the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for Recruitment of Researchers.

The University was one of 15 successful research institutions named this week by Stefaan Hermans, of the European Commission’s Research and Innovation directorate, at the Vitae Researcher Development International Conference.

The benefit to Lancaster of achieving the HR Excellence badge is that it will show potential and current research staff that they can expect to be treated in accordance with best practice and that their ongoing professional development will be supported. It will also provide the University with a means of regularly checking our practices against a respected external benchmark and identifying improvements in our provision for research staff.
