Maiolica Ceramics
This lecture is being held in connection with one of the exhibitions being held at the Peter Scott Gallery, a display of Italian Renaissance Maiolica Ceramics on loan from a private collector. Originally developed as an imitation of porcelain "Maiolica Ware" became highly developed in Renaissance Italy in the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries. The scenes depicted on the pottery are exceptionally complex and like Renaissance easel paintings the subject matter presents biblical, historical and mythological events. The cost of the talk is £4 per person, free to NUS card holders and Friends of the Peter Scott Gallery. Please telephone the gallery on 01524 593057 or e-mail galleryenquiries@lancaster.ac.uk for further information and to reserve a place.
Thursday 7th December at 7pm in the Cavendish Lecture Theatre.
