African writing in Lancaster
Writers from across Africa and Britain were brought together over the internet this week to generate new work and share experiences.
The event was part of the Crossing Borders – a British Council-funded African writing project, which is designed and managed by the Department of English and Creative Writing at Lancaster University.
The Crossing Borders Open Day - held at Lancaster University’s Institute for Advanced Studies on Wednesday, March 1 – was an opportunity to see writing, images, and web resources generated by the Crossing Borders scheme.
A live chat link was set up with participants in Uganda and writers from Zimbabwe, South Africa and Lancaster also came together to produce a new collaborative poem - Sing Like a River.
