A CONTRACT WORTH 20,000 POUNDS HAS BEEN WON BY THE DEPARTMENT OF CONTINUING EDUCATION to provide Higher Education Gateway events in 2005/6 for the National Academy for Gifted and Talented Youth (NAGTY). DCE will work with University departments to deliver master classes and other workshops for NAGTY members from across the UK. The first master class (28 October) is on Writing Soap is led by Coronation Street writer Peter Whalley. The HE Gateway events will take place throughout the year and they complement the NAGTY summer school which will take place at LU from 6 to 19 August in 2006. The NAGTY HE Gateway offers informative, high quality learning opportunities to students with little experience of higher education. Events at Lancaster this autumn will include the following distinguished lectures and master classes (see below) which may be of interest to the children of LU staff. No prior knowledge is needed - just a keen interest in the subject. Lancaster Univeristy Debating Society Presents The Princess Alexandra Cup Inter Varsity Competition. Saturday 3rd December 2005. An event for both members and non-members. From 11am on Saturday the Competition will begin in Princess Livingstone LT (bow north) among others.
