University short-lists partners to build new student accommodation
Lancaster University is planning to add approximately 1,600 new rooms on its campus to upgrade student accommodation.
Jarvis UPP and Norwest Holst are the private sector companies that have been short listed as prospective partners. The University expects to select a preferred bidder in spring 2002 and to agree contractual terms in summer 2002.
The partnership will be responsible for providing new and replacement accommodation.
The successful partner will provide project management expertise to co-ordinate the programme whilst minimising the disruption to students and other campus activities.
Euan McGregor, the University's director of Resources said : "We have been very pleased with the interest and innovation shown by the private sector so far. The evaluation process has been demanding and we are looking forward to working with Jarvis UPP and Norwest Holst to refine their proposals."
