Nuffield Theatre Produces First UK Tour
The Nuffield Theatre at Lancaster University has recently produced its first UK tour which has earned a four star review in The Times. The Man Who Pictured Space From His Apartment” from Chicago-based duo Cupola Bobber mixes basic materials with homespun engineering to convert a confined interior into an expansive nightscape, a universe made out of cardboard.
The Nuffield’s Projects and Artist Support Officer Alice Booth produced the tour.
She said: “Producing tours for international artists is an exciting new strand of work for us at the Nuffield. After Cupola Bobber undertook a yearlong Artistic Fellowship with us last year, it seemed the logical ‘next step’ to produce a tour for them. The tour has allowed us to fulfil our desire for their beautiful work to be seen widely across the UK, and at the same time, extend the remit of our artists support into the international arena. Both the Nuffield and Cupola Bobber are delighted with the positive reviews that the tour is attracting.”
Cupola Bobber are now touring “The Man Who Pictured Space From His Apartment” to venues in Manchester, Coventry, Bristol, Exeter, Dartington and Leeds, culminating in London in December. Their first show, at Manchester's greenroom, attracted some amazing press coverage, including a four-star review in The Times:
'An elusive yet unexpectedly coherent, consistently engaging combination of physical stamina and imaginative delicacy... The climax is a coup de theatre of surpassing and wistful sweetness' - Donald Hutera, The Times
