The Geography Department at Lancaster University has been awarded £365K from the European Regional Development toward tourist projects in the North West.
The project, which runs from June 2002 to May 2004, will enable the placement of 50 Lancaster graduates on short-term consultancies within the SME tourism sector, the production of 20 tourism briefing papers and the formation of a number of Action Learning groups at key centres within the North West.
The project was shaped by a comprehensive consultation with leading tourism professionals and academics in the region, in a Tourism Forum held at Lancaster University in June 2001. It further develops the partnership between Lancaster University and tourism agencies and businesses in the North West.
