RNCM Symphony Orchestra brings Mahler 4 to Lancaster
As part of the Lancaster International Concert Series, the young Australian conductor Matthew Coorey, who is currently a Junior Fellow in Conducting at the Royal Northern College of Music, will conduct the RNCM Symphony Orchestra in The Great Hall, Lancaster University at 7.30pm on 23 October, in a programme which includes Mahler’s sublime Symphony No. 4. A fellow Australian - Victoria Lambourn - is the soloist in the haunting Wunderhorn song which closes the Symphony.
The soloist in the other work in the programme - Shostakovich’s Violin Concerto No. 1, Op 99 is a Dutch postgraduate Marije Ploemacher.
