The Institute for Entrepreneurship and Enterprise Development, part of Lancaster University Management School is very privileged to have Alan Wood, Chief Executive of Siemens UK to launch their fourth series of business to business lectures. With this year's theme being ‘competitiveness.’

Siemens consist of twenty five wholly owned subsidiary companies, employing 18,000 employees, their product portfolio is highly diverse covering operating theatres to the Heathrow Express trains. They have been awarded a major regional metering services contract from British Gas and they have made a significant breakthrough for future UK broadband networks with BT and the Technical University of Eindhoven. How do they keep up to speed with developments and keep the UK ahead of the competition?

Recently appointed as Chairman of the Engineering Employers Federation Economic and Policy Committee, Alan is committed to driving up UK manufacture and says “Manufacturing may have taken a pounding in recent years but it remains a crucial part of the British economy, representing 20% of our GDP and more than 60% of exported goods.”

The Institute looks forward to hearing Alan address the ‘UK challenge for competitiveness.’

Question time and discussion should be interesting with business and academia sharing their thoughts and experiences. As usual all contributions will be welcomed.

The lecture will be held on Tuesday 17th February, 6.30pm – 8.30pm in the MBA Theatre, Lancaster University Management School.
