Excellent teaching quality in Politics and International Relations
The University's Department of Politics and International Relations has received excellent marks for teaching quality from the expert Quality Assurance Agency review team, which conducted a subject review of the Department last week . They scored 23 out of 24.
Out of 24 University departments visited to date, 17 have been given a score of 22 or above or an 'excellent' rating.
The assessors particularly commented on the Department's broad and attractive curriculum, and commented that it is an open and friendly department which clearly takes good care of its students. Quality management processes were also praised, including procedures for examining and assessing students.
Head of department Gordon Hands said: 'We were particularly pleased by the panel's complimentary remarks about the teaching sessions they observed. The department attracts large numbers of undergraduate and post-graduate students, including a significant number of overseas post-graduates, and the endorsement of our excellent teaching should encourage current students and potential applicants.'
