Lancaster Departments in Top 10

Eight Lancaster Departments have been placed in the top ten of subjects areas in the latest League tables published by the Times Higher Educational Supplement.

The listings ranked 110 universities and university colleges in the UK according to subject excellence.

Lancaster's top ten were

Educational Research - 3rd

Linguistics - 3rd

Theatre Studies - 4th

Religious Studies- 4th

Management School - 6th

American Studies - 9th

Art - 9th

Environmental Science - 10th.

Other subjects in the top twenty were

English 11th

General Engineering 11th

Psychology 14th

Economics 15th

Computer Science - 17th

Geography 20th

The tables are based on a number of different indicators, including research and teaching assessment, research income and Library and Computing spending.

In a separate league table published by the Times newspaper on 7th May, Lancaster was ranked 21st out of 100 institutions. Lancaster was ranked 19th in Tuesday May 20th Guardian League Tables
