Crossing borders now on-line
A pioneering project bringing fresh African writing to new audiences has launched its website.
Crossing Borders is an exciting initiative that uses information technology to link young writers in Africa with experienced mentors based in the UK. Drawing participants from Uganda, Kenya, South Africa, Cameroon, Nigeria, Ghana, Zimbabwe and Malawi, Crossing Borders is creating a new, international community of writers.
The project is designed and led by Dr Graham Mort, Department of English & Creative Writing, Lancaster University, and is funded by the British Council. For further information please contact Dr Graham Mort or David Cooper (Project Manager).
The new website provides information about the history of the project and features profiles of some mentors and participants. It will develop as an important educational resource as writers will be given a platform to discuss both their cultural backgrounds and their ongoing literary development. The site will also feature the work of participants who have taken part in the programme and links and chat facilities will add a further dimension to the virtual community of writers.
